Hey everybody -- Are you a professional or amateur photographer that enjoys focusing your lens on the more unusual sites in the Garden State? The Noyes Museum of Art and Weird NJ announce a Weird NJ Photography Exhibition to be held at the Noyes Museum. This juried event intends to discover what oddities may be lurking in the woods, under the boardwalk or at the local watering hole all within the state of New Jersey. Our goal is to gather the weirdest photos of New Jersey. What specifies weird? Is it eerie, strange, historic, crazy, unbelievable, tacky, or forbidden? Photos will be selected for their originality, photographic quality, or just plain weirdness. Selected photos will be on extended display at the Noyes Museum and featured on the Weird NJ web site and in the pages of our magazine. The problem is weeding out what I think would be good from all the rest of my pulp! So digital copies are okay? I shall have to consider this...

Then they let you know if your photos were chosen. At that point you'd have to print and frame the photos for display in the exhibit.

I used to live in the house next door when I worked for the refuge. I wish I had some weird photos... wait maybe I do... hmm.... oh... did weird NJ ever do a story on the Lily Lake Amusement Park? Located right where the Noyes Museum now stands. It used to be a resort of sorts, around the turn of the 20th century... I heard the story when I worked at the refuge next door. It had amusement park rides and paddle boats on the lake. It even had a dance hall that was built over the lake. I think the dance hall was a restaurant until the 40's or so when it closed down (the resort itself closed during the great depression) and the big pier collapsed into the water sometime in the 60's, you can still see the pillars in the lake and some concrete structures around it. I remember seeing a newspaper page from the time it closed down. .... oh maybe I will have to go back and dig some of that info up.... Last Edited By: JulieB 06/22/09 9:14. Edited 1 times.

If the photos are any good they would like to hang them on a wall, show them to an interested audience, and hopefully sell them--for which you would receive 50% of the profits.

Two of my three submissions can be found in my online gallery. The first photo in my online gallery was created using multiple exposures, double sided tape, paper plates and the textures from the monument itself. The other one is a black and white photograph of the black bull wearing a Hawaiian lay. (There are two in the gallery, but I submitted the one showing the left side of the bull.) That Werks Photography Congratulations to those lucky enough to be shown in the gallery.

I sent another e-mail to them just to make sure the communication didn't get mixed up and still nothing came back. That's weird in itself.
