Just thought I'd share the sad news. Last night I decided to bring a friend to see the good old Devil's Tree. He'd never seen it before and there
wasn't much else to do, so i drove down to Bridgewater and to my surprise and dismay, i pulled up to a depressing sight. The tree didn't look quite as
menacing at it used to. The longest branch and a few of the other larger ones were hacked up into little 1-foot pieces on the ground. I'm not sure who
decided to slay this majestic beast, but it looks like it won't be long before you find the devil's woodchips in some kids' playground.
Nevertheless I came out of this experience with a souvenir. A generous chunk of the Devil's Tree has found a new home in the trunk of my car. And there it
will stay until I think of something meaningful to carve out of it, or die a horrible death. Whichever comes first.
