All 3 of us have seen what we believe is the ghost of our
deceased male cat. Sometimes, it is briefly
out of the corner of our eye. Sometimes,
one of us is looking straight on and we see it.
It is definitely a dark though transparent image of a cat, with hazy
edges. You can see the body, the head,
the legs, and the tail. Sometimes when
my H sees him, though, his head is missing.
That happened to me one time as well.
He appears out of thin air, only to just as suddenly disappear into thin
I took in a stray female cat about 1-1/2 months after our
male cat passed. Not only does she look
very much like him, she has a very similar personality as well. When I first saw her, she ran up to me and
dropped to the ground, rolling around just like he would do. I did a double take, b/c my first thought was
that it was Max! I momentarily forgot
that he was gone.
I was still in real estate at the time. The people selling the house did not want to
take her with them, though while they lived there, they took care of her as an
outside cat (they fed her every day and made sure she had fresh water, besides
taking her to the vet for her shots and such).
My buyers did not want her either.
On one hand, it broke my heart that no one else wanted her. On the other hand, this meant that I could
take her in, which is what I not only wanted to do, but also felt compelled to
do. She was just too much like our Max,
and I missed him so much. He was only 4
years old when he passed (we believe he had a heart attack, young as he
was). Our female cat, Willow, was also
only 4 when she passed 7 months prior to Max (we had to put her down due to
kidney failure). It was too much losing
both at such a young age and so close together.
Boots, our current female cat (and only cat, other than when
Max comes back to visit), often repeatedly whips her head around, as if she
sees something that we don’t. She will
start playing with “something” invisible on the steps, and jump around as if
she is playing with another cat. Then
she gets spooked, cries, and takes off, tearing through the house in terror in
the process. It is the strangest thing.
We believe she is playing with Max, when this happens. I haven’t yet been able to capture her
behavior on video. Hopefully, one day I
When my Mother passed away back in January, Boots went
absolutely bonkers for 2 days following.
She cried relentlessly. She could
not rest. She ran all over the house
non-stop. We believe my Mother was
wreaking havoc in a mischievous way with Boots.
My Mother loathed cats.
